
The Tata Motors Nexon Concept was unveiled at the 2014 Auto Expo. A near-production version of the compact SUV was also displayed at last year’s Delhi Auto Expo. Tata Motors will launch the Tata Nexon Indian model on September 21st 2017, after more than a year. The company is now accepting reservations for the compact SUV starting at INR 11,000 in advance of its launch. The Nexon, internally codenamed ‘Osprey,’ is based on Tata Bolt’s X1 platform. This compact SUV, which is based on the IMPACT Design philosophy, becomes the fourth offering of the car maker, following the Tata Tigor and Tiago. Recently, the Nexon Geneva Edition was showcased alongside the Tigor Styleback at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.
Tata Nexon Exterior
The baby SUV looks modern and fresh, regardless of whether it follows the exact design cues of the concept vehicle. Its contemporary and elegant appearance is a result. Many of the design elements seem to be inspired by Tata’s latest age vehicles, such as the Tiago Bolt, Bolt and Zest. It has a bold front and is accented with lots chrome to add bling.
For that matter, the front features a piano-black grille with integrated sleek LED headlamps on each side. Daytime running lamps are also included. The company’s logo draped in chrome in the centre gives it a strong appeal for young customers. The roofline curves towards the rear, making it appear like a coupe that has been merged with Tata’s symbol of strength and functionality. The tailgate is a unique creation by engineers at Tata Motors. It has conical-shaped tail lights that seem to have been meticulously designed. It is equipped with 16-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels.
Tata Nexon Dimensions
The Tata Nexon is 3,995mm long, 1,600mm high, and 1,730mm wide. It has a wheelbase length of 2,470mm. The Nexon has a 209 mm ground clearance, making it ideal for all kinds of Indian terrains.
Tata Nexon Interior
The interior of Tata’s compact SUV- Nexon is very similar to the Tiago hatchback. It is loaded with modern connectivity features and comfort. The dashboard is conventionally designed, with a three-spoke steering column with mounted controls and a central console design that is borrowed from the hatchback. It will be equipped with the most modern components that are dedicated to the future car. The cabin will feel like a comfortable place to be with stitched leather upholstery and a height-adjustable driver’s seat.

Tata Nexon Engine Specifications and Transmission
The Tata Nexon subcompact SUV will be available with both petrol and diesel power-train options. The petrol version is powered by a Revotron, 3-cylinder turbo-charged petrol engine producing 108 BHP and 170 Nm peak power. The diesel variant uses a 1.5-litre Revotorq turbocharged diesel engine that produces 108 BHP maximum power and 260 Nm peak torque. The engines will be mated to 6-speed manual transmissions, but a 6-speed AMT-equipped gearbox will be an option.

The Tata Nexon subcompact SUV is equipped with a 6.5 inch floating touch-screen infotainment screen with Voice recognition technology, support for Android Auto and GPS navigation, smartphone integration using ConnectNext App Suite, smart keys with arm bands, 8-speaker HARMAN stereo system, multi-drive modes and 16-inch alloy wheels.
Tata Nexon Safety Features
The upcoming Tata Nexon compact SUV is equipped with dual airbags, anti-lock brake system (ABS), electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), corner stability control, and ISOFIX child safety mounts. You will also find a rear parking camera, reverse parking sensors, and keyless entry.
Tata Nexon Variants
There will be four trim levels for the Tata Nexon, along with eight variants across both engines. These include XE and XM trims, XT, XZ+.
Tata Nexon Colour Options
There will be five color options for the Tata Nexon. These include Moroccan Blue, Vermont Red and Glasgow Grey as well as Seattle Silver, Calgary White, and Seattle Silver. Each colour is named after famous cities around the globe.
Tata Nexon Competition
The Tata Nexon SUV will compete against vehicles like the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brazza, Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV300.
Tata Nexon – Price in India
Indian automobile market is highly competitive and price conscious. The Tata Nexon will be launched with a price tag of INR 6.49 million (ex-showroom), and could go up to INR 9.5 lakh (ex–showroom).
